In the veneer workshop we select the quality according to veneer
pattern, colour, workmanship and overall quality. They are then
reselected again while making up the high quality matched veneers to
eliminate the smallest defects.
Cut
The veneers for a customer configuration come from a single tree trunk.
This way, tabletop surfaces, fronts and cover panels are precisely
matched with each other.
Veneer pattern
Our veneer patterns are always harmonise with the tabletop shape. For
example, elliptical tops have radial veneering and round tops
star-shaped (sunburst) veneering. Special quality characteristics are
„star tips“ in the centre of round tabletops. You will not find any
interruptions in the course of the veneer in our products. E.g. A
time-consuming process is used for technics flaps in which they are
first veneered over, later cut out and then worked back in. Result:
almost invisible integration of the Technics flap.
Edge finish
The real art lies in finishing our edges with their large-area bevelled
and often spherically curved edges, some of which can only be glued,
pressed and sanded manually.
Luxury: washing
In order to guarantee an excellent varnished surface, the tabletops are
washed down again after the veneer has been sanded down and then sanded
down by hand.
Surfaces
The varnished surfaces are built up with up to 7 coats. For an optimum
result, each coat is sanded down before the next coat is applied.
Finally, the highly scratchproof DD finishing varnish is applied in 2
passes. The same varnishing process is of course also used on the
undersides of the table surfaces.
