»me conference« conference system for the DaimlerChrysler -
Van Evolution Center
DaimlerChrysler, a long-standing premium brand in automobile design, turned to Rosenthal Einrichtung for the design and realization of a fascinating conference system. The Espelkamp-based manufacturer created »me conference«, an 18-person elliptical conference table designed for DaimlerChrysler’s Van Evolution Center (VEC) in Stuttgart.
The task was to create a conference system of the highest quality and appearance without limiting flexibility in using the space of the room. Changing scenarios are the order of business at the Van Evolution Center.
New products and concepts can be broadcast live by video, 3D-animation or with the help of the turntable embedded in the floor. As needed, an integrated tribune for up to 40 persons is extended from the glass façade. With this, the VEC is a perfect development platform. An environment that is in perfect harmony with the quality and innovation strength of DaimlerChrysler products.
Already during the planning of the conference system, not only all of these use aspects had to be taken into consideration. Also the existing architecture of the elliptical room was incorporated and fully taken into 
account during the planning and realization process. The result is a creative, state-of-the-art and technically perfect piece of furniture that not only satisfies requirements, but exceeds expectations.
With »me conference«, we decided on a highly flexible traverse system with span lengths of up to three metres. In this way, Rosenthal Einrichtung offers forms beyond the standard – with almost any desired appearance. Despite the high loading capacity, a »me conference« may be re-assembled without any tools – the total system disappears in only 45 minutes to the appropriate custom-made trolley.
From a technical point of view, this flexibility was only made possible by the Controller Serial Network (CSN), which guarantees the electrification of the conference system by means of “Plug and Play”. This offers users onsite connections for electricity, video/VGA, audio and LAN/WAN at each seat. The individual monitor signals
are projected onto the 12 m wide screen via a central control module. CSN makes this conference system a perfect synthesis of state-of-the art technology and maximum flexibility.
However, the service of a manufacturer was requested not only with respect to functional aspects. For example, each individual element of the curved wooden facing has a radius. For this, individual size parts were custom-made. Corresponding with the requirements of a Rosenthal table, the curved tabletop received an end-to-end veneer.
The client’s main requirements – highly flexible use with a perfect appearance and top quality – are epitomised in »me conference« down to the smallest detail by Rosenthal Einrichtung.
